Since my decision to take a break, I have had lots of time to think about my life. My life as a mother, a nurse, and a burlesque artist. Not many burlesque artists full-time mothers with a full-time professional job. I think I have done quite well for the past few years balancing all 3 of those jobs…until my son got extremely ill. That was my que to chill. To spend time with my family and focus my energy on what counts the most…my son and my family/friends.
Every once in a while I get the urge and the craving for the rhinestones and the glitter, but for right now…I’ll settle for foam visors with sparkling glue and aprons with glow in the dark hand prints. Nothing beats the time I am spending with my son and the activities we do. But burlesque is in my blood and soul, so I will not be gone for long.
If you have not watched ‘Searching for Debra Winger’, it is a movie to be seen. It’s about actresses who try to balance their career and their families and the struggles they have.
This time has also been a time for creation. Creation of new costumes, new props, new connections, new acts, and new adventures. Gaining a new perspective on burlesque, what I personally want from it, and how I can and WILL achieve that. I will also be receiving quality training from some of the best in the business, so I’ll have new tricks up my sleeve ;).
I will be performing during the months of March and April. Please visit my calendar on my website, http://www.saharadunes.net. I will also be traveling quite a bit this year.
The first place I will be going is San Francisco for a movie shoot…very excited about this!
Then starting in May/June…I hope to be back in full swing ready to make magic happen!
